WASSCE Begins: A Milestone for Ghanaian Students

As the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) kicks off today, Ghana's students are stepping into one of the most significant moments in their academic journey. This annual exam, starting with Oral English, is a pivotal test that marks the culmination of years of hard work for these young learners.

This year is particularly special. It comes after the successful completion of practical and project work by some candidates and sees the highest number of participants to date. A total of 460,611 candidates, including 212,954 boys and 247,657 girls from 1,003 schools, are sitting for the exam across 1,000 centers nationwide. This represents a 2.66% increase from last year, highlighting the growing number of students reaching this stage.

For the third year in a row, Ghana is conducting the WASSCE independently, following a unique academic calendar introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike other West African nations like Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, which have returned to the May/June schedule, Ghana has maintained its separate timeline due to specific national and educational circumstances.

As these students embark on this critical phase, it's important to recognize the dedication, effort, and perseverance that have brought them this far. We also acknowledge the unwavering support of teachers, parents, and guardians who have been instrumental in their journey.

The WASSCE is not just another exam; it's a gateway to future opportunities and a chance to shape the future. We encourage our students to face this challenge with confidence, demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and talents to make Ghana proud.

To the Ghana Education Service, the West African Examinations Council, and all involved stakeholders, we commend your efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of this examination. We trust that this year's WASSCE will be yet another success.

As this new chapter begins, it's vital for students to remember that education is the cornerstone of our nation's development. Continued investment in students, teachers, and schools is essential. Striving for excellence, innovation, and inclusivity should be our collective goal.

To the candidates, we urge you to embrace this moment and make your mark. Ghana is counting on you.

Finally, we remind all students that engaging in examination malpractice is never worth the risk. It could jeopardize your education and future prospects. Supervisors and invigilators must remain vigilant to ensure the integrity of the examination is upheld.

Candidates should strictly follow the examination rules and be cautious of rogue websites that circulate fake questions, which can distract them from their studies. Success is within reach, and you can achieve it honestly.

Boachnews wish all the candidates the best in their exams and believe in their ability to succeed without cheating.
