Ernest Owusu Bempah, the Deputy Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to apprehend those responsible for the dissemination of the contentious 'Agyapadie' document.
Bempah argues that the document, which has sparked significant controversy, is filled with falsehoods and is part of a concerted effort to undermine the NPP government.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Bempah claimed that the Agyapadie document was riddled with unfounded accusations designed to damage the NPP's reputation and discredit its leadership. He stressed that such politically motivated actions harm the nation's democratic process and stability.
Bempah also contended that the distribution of the document is a criminal act, as it aims to incite public unrest and tarnish the government's image without any factual basis.
He called on the IGP to swiftly identify and arrest those behind the publication, holding them accountable for their attempts to mislead the public.
Bempah underscored the need to maintain the integrity of the political process, warning that the spread of misinformation and defamatory content could erode public trust in democratic institutions. He also urged all political actors to engage in fair and respectful campaigning, focusing on issues and policies rather than resorting to smear tactics.
"As a country, we cannot allow the NDC to continue spreading blatant and malicious falsehoods and then claim it is just politics," Bempah stated.
"Regarding this current issue, the publishers of Awake News must face the full force of the law to deter them from using social media to create confusion in the system."
Bempah called on the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to urgently arrest those responsible for the publication of the fictional document and ensure they face the full rigors of the law.
