Manchester City secured the first trophy of the new season by defeating Manchester United in a thrilling Community Shield final at Wembley Stadium. The match ended 1-1 after regular time, with City emerging victorious in a tense penalty shootout, winning 7-6.

The game was closely contested, with Manchester United taking the lead through Alejandro Garnacho, who scored a well-taken goal to put his side ahead. However, City fought back and equalized with a crucial goal from one of their key players, who was also celebrating his birthday, sending the match to penalties.

In the ensuing penalty shootout, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, Scott McTominay, and Lisandro Martínez all converted their penalties. However, Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans missed their attempts, which proved costly for the Red Devils.

On the other side, Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Savio, Ederson, Matheus Nunes, Rúben Dias, and Manuel Akanji were successful with their penalties. The only miss for City came from Bernardo Silva, but it did not prevent them from securing the win.

The match showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, but in the end, it was City who lifted the Community Shield, adding yet another trophy to their collection under manager Pep Guardiola. This victory sets a positive tone for Manchester City as they head into the new season, while Manchester United will look to bounce back and regroup after a hard-fought match.
