Curfew Imposed in Bimbilla Township Amid Security Concerns - Interior Ministry


**Accra, August 2, 2024** — The Ministry of the Interior, upon the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council, has announced a renewed curfew for Bimbilla Township. The curfew, enforced through an Executive Instrument, is effective from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 am starting today. This decision aims to address ongoing security challenges in the region.


In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, the government calls upon Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the general populace of Bimbilla to exercise restraint during these trying times. The emphasis is on adopting non-violent measures and focusing efforts on maintaining peace within the community.


The directive further includes a stringent prohibition on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Bimbilla Township and its surrounding areas. Any individual found violating this ban will face arrest and prosecution, underscoring the government's commitment to restoring and upholding peace.


The renewed curfew and accompanying measures reflect the government's proactive stance in curbing violence and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
